Top Story: Armed Robbery

UPDATED 9:25pm - Search Continues For Armed Robbery Suspect

7/13/11 - The search continues for the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at the Shell Travel Mart at 821 Park Avenue on the east side of Beaver Dam at 4:14pm Wednesday afternoon. Beaver Dam Police Detective Ryan Klavekoske says the suspect was armed with a handgun and confronted the clerk demanding money before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect had nylon over his face and ran in an eastbound manner toward Highway 151. Eye-witness reports indicate that the suspect may have entered a white-colored passenger car and traveled from the Oakwood Cemetery-area toward Prospect Avenue. The suspect is described as a white male, in his 20’s or 30’s approximately 175 pounds, around 5 foot 10 inches tall last seen wearing a baggy pair of carpenter-style blue jean shorts with white tennis shoes. He was wearing a black and grey-striped hooded sweatshirt during the robbery that he later removed; it has since been taken as evidence. In the minutes following the robbery, law enforcement cordoned off an area between Highway’s 33 and 151, County Road E and Crystal Lake Road. Klavekoske says the scene was cleared around 6pm Wednesday and while the public should remain vigilant he does not believe there is an imminent threat of danger in the area. Investigators will be meeting at the State Crime Lab Thursday for assistance in attempting to identify a suspect. Anyone with information should contact the Beaver Dam Police Department at (920) 887-4612.
