Attempted Burglary At Randolph Pharmacy

3/12/10 - Nothing was taken during an attempted burglary at the Randolph Pharmacy on North High Street early this morning. Police Chief Michael Klavekoske says the subjects apparently used a large cement block to shatter the front glass window. However, police believe that after they reached inside, and unlocked the front door, an alarm sounded, which apparently scared them off. Klavekoske says they interviewed residents around the store but nobody saw anything. The case is still under investigation and anyone that has information regarding the incident is asked to call the Randolph Police Department or the anonymous We-Tip Hotline and 1-800-78-CRIME.

Clyman Couple Bound Over On Child Abuse Charges

3/12/10 - Probable cause was found yesterday to bind over a Clyman couple on charges that they refused to feed a preteen in their care. 45-year-old Kathryn Kreier is charged with Physical Abuse of a Child and 44-year-old Kenneth Kreier is charged with Failure To Act To Prevent Bodily Harm to a Child. According to the criminal complaint, refrigerators and cupboards in the home were locked for over a year. School officials were even prohibited from providing a hot lunch to the child, who was removed from the home in December of 2008 after a 20% loss in body weight. If convicted, Kenneth Kreier faces over twelve years in prison Kathryn could get up to 15 years. The Kreier’s have an arraignment hearing scheduled for next Wednesday.

Juneau Man Pleads Out On Fleeing Charges

3/12/10 - A Juneau man who was arrested late last month after running from Beaver Dam police has pled out. Dereck Pfeil had a preliminary hearing scheduled for Thursday but instead entered a “no contest” plea to a felony charge of Fleeing and a misdemeanor charge of Carrying A Concealed Weapon and had a second misdemeanor dismissed but read into the record. Officers attempted to pull over the 23-year-old after observing him traveling 20 mph over the speed limit on Park Avenue around 2am on February 27th. He fled down Highway 151 and was later apprehended on County Highway A in the parking lot of a supper club. Pfeil was sentenced to 260 days in jail and had his license suspended for six months.

Couple Cleared On Charges of Lewd Behavior

3/12/10 - A Dodge County jury this week found a Neosho woman “not guilty” on charges that she performed an inappropriate act on her front porch to antagonize a neighbor. 43-year-old Kimberly Ferguson and 34-year-old Mark Albert were charged with Lewd and Lascivious Behavior for the August 23 incident. According to the criminal complaint, the couple allegedly threw a grill brush through the neighbors sliding glass doors and then taunted them as it was being repaired. Five witnesses, including a nine-year-old girl, were on their own porch when the taunting was said to have escalated into the alleged lewd act. When authorities arrived on scene, Albert fought with officers and, in January, he was sentenced to 75 days in jail for Resisting Arrest. There were no charges filed for their alleged connection to the broken window. It took a jury on Wednesday less than a half hour to find Ferguson “not guilty” of lewd behavior. The District Attorney’s office dropped similar charges against Albert yesterday.

Alleged OWI Court Activity

3/12/10 - A Beaver Dam man accused of picking up a child at daycare while drunk will proceed to trial. Kevin R. Stojetz waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday. Staff with the Beaver Dam child care facility told authorities that Stojetz was stumbling and smelled of alcohol when he picked-up the child on December 14. His blood alcohol level was allegedly over three times the legal limit. The 45-year-old has an arraignment hearing scheduled later this month.

3/12/10 - In Dodge County court yesterday, a man from northern Wisconsin facing his seventh OWI entered a “not guilty” plea at arraignment. Authorities allegedly clocked William Menze of Marquette going 77-miles-per-hour in a 65-mile-per-hour-zone on Highway 60 in early February. The 44-year-old had a blood alcohol level that was said to be nearly twice the legal limit for driving at (point).13. It was the third time Menze had been arrested in Wisconsin for drunken driving and has been convicted of driving under the influence in Michigan four times. If convicted of the most recent charge Menze could spend up to 10-years in prison.

BDPFC To Begin Police Chief Search

3/12/10 - The Beaver Dam Police and Fire Commission is sparing no time in their search for a new police chief. On March 2 - one day after the Common Council approved the construction of a new, $5.1 million dollar police station – Chief Dale Boldt announced his retirement to a shocked Police and Fire Commission. The PFC has scheduled a special meeting for next Wednesday to acknowledge and accept Boldt’s resignation. They will then adjourn into closed session to discuss the hiring process for the city’s next police chief.

Kottke To Discuss Clearview on Co Com

3/12/10 - On Community Comment this afternoon we’ll talk to County Board Chairman Russ Kottke about plans for a new Clearview Long Term Care building. An architectural firm hired by the county recommends constructing a new 200,000 square foot structure in place of the current south building. The initial cost estimate is 44.5-million-dollars. Preliminary plans calls for the project to be paid for with county sales tax revenue in an effort not raise tax rates. No plans have been finalized yet. Community Comment airs weekdays on WBEV 1430AM beginning at 12:35pm.
