One Killed in Columbia County Accident

11/2/08 - An 18-year-old man was killed in a one-vehicle accident in Columbia County last night. Sheriff’s Department records show the Pardeeville man was killed while driving on Fenske Road in the Town of Marcellon. He was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead by the county medical examiner. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department but speed does appear to be a factor.

Columbus Heading to State

11/2/08 - The Columbus boy’s soccer team is heading to state for the third straight year. The Cardinals dominated their sectional final against St. Mary’s Springs winning 5-0 to push their record to 18-5-2. Four their five goals of came Jeff Schultz and Charlie Calvo, who both added an assist. It was the 4th straight shutout for the Cards in the playoffs. They will now head to Milwaukee for the state tournament where they’re 1-2 in their last two trips. Columbus will face 3-loss New Holstein team on Friday at 2pm.

Watertown Volleyball Has Chance to Defend Title

11/2/08 - It took 5-sets but the Watertown girls volleyball team advanced to the state tournament yesterday. The Goslings beat Menominee Falls 3 games to 2 allowing themselves an opportunity to defend their 2007 state championship. Watertown will play West Bend East in their first match Thursday. You can catch that game on our sister station 1580 WTTN with coverage starting at 4:15 this Thursday.

Authorities Tell DC Residents to Remain Vigilant

11/2/08 - Authorities in Dodge County are urging the public to remain vigilant in reporting suspicious activity. Sheriff Todd Nehls says just because the suspects in two separate burglary rings have been apprehended, it doesn’t mean the people should become complacent. 46-year-old Oscar Jasper of the Watertown-area and an unnamed woman were arrested at the Grand View Motel in Beaver Dam Friday morning. Jasper was taken into custody on a parole violation and a charge of felon in possession of a firearm. The two were said to be in possession of numerous items related to the daytime burglaries.

Two Drunk Drivers Involved in Rollovers

11/2/08 - You don’t usually see a car on its side with no one around while driving down the road at 2 o’clock in the morning. But that’s exactly what one woman found early this morning on county road S near the intersection of Helena St in the Town of Oak Grove. Turns out the 35-year-old driver had fled the scene of the accident. However, authorities were able to find him a short time later walking down the street. A breathalyzer showed the man had a preliminary blood alcohol level of .22, just less than 3 times the legal limit. The man was arrested for his first O-W-I and taken to jail.

A woman picked up another O-W-I after rolling her vehicle late yesterday afternoon. The 48-year-old was driving on Highway 60 near its intersection with Wellman St in the Town of Clyman when she lost control and rolled her car. The woman was uninjured. She was arrested and cited for her 2nd O-W-I.
