Turnout Lower than Expected in Dodge County

11/5/08 - Dodge County had about 1500 less ballots cast this year than in 2004. County Clerk Karen Gibson says there was a shade under 43,000 votes cast yesterday compared to the nearly 44,500 in the last presidential election. Gibson says she has no idea why the turnout was less and was very surprised because she had been expecting 47,000 votes to be cast. Despite the lower turnout she says she’s happy with the way the election ran in the county and says there were very few problems reported.

The 14-percent margin was the biggest in the state since Democrat Lyndon Johnson won his only full term in 1964.
